Counselling provided is person – centred – that is dealing with what is happening for the client in the “here and now” and is short term intensive counselling sometimes called solution- focused or brief therapy. It aims to achieve beneficial change in as short a time as possible, primarily in 6 sessions and is therefore also cost effective. All Counsellors are professionally trained in psychology and use psychological theories and techniques in their counselling to help the client. All Counsellors are members of professional counselling associations such as BACP, HACP and UKCP. All work to BACP ethical guidelines.
Our Counsellors are friendly, welcoming and will not make judgements about a client or their problems or give advice. Counselling is far more than listening, during counselling a relationship is built based on acceptance , unconditional positive regard and empathy. A client has an appointment with the same counsellor each week who will listen to the client and help them explore the issue that brings them to counselling. Over the course of 6 sessions the counselling relationship builds up bringing about therapeutic change.
